Ways For Youth
To Get Involved

Get on the Email Distribution Lists

The best way to know the latest info is to get on Colleen's email distribution lists. It works best if I have both the youth's email and at least one parent's email.  Include the second email, along with the names of who receives both emails and the youth's parish and grade. I'll add you to my lists and you'll get updates of canceled meetings and stuff like that.

Attend Teen Time Gatherings

The senior high youth gather on once a month at each parish site.  We have presentations, small group discussions, and socialization time. It's pretty fun! You can come anytime; it's not a "group" that you are in or not in. It's a place to go and check out what's up at church and the people who hang out there. We learn a bit about Catholic stuff, like what Catholics believe about our Lord, Jesus Christ. But you can bring your friends, and no has to be Catholic to attend!

Teen Music Ministry

Join us to lead music for the Mass.

Singers and instrumentalists of all types are welcome.  Teens in junior and senior high welcome.  This will be a combined group from all parishes.

There are also opportunities to join the choirs in each of the parishes.  Contact the music directors for more information.

Participate in Fund Raisers

Our parish collects five cent deposit bottles for sorting and redeeming for the money. Once every two months or so, a parent coordinates the sorting. Join in this or other fund raisers by letting Colleen know so you are on the email distribution list, or watch the bulletin or website for dates. It's usually quite a bit of fun!

Service Hours

When youth work at church, they may submit service hours to various organizations such as school, scouts, National Honor Society, etc. The parishes assist youth in this process by signing the youth's documentation sheet of the service as it is performed. We are unable to keep records of youth's service, but provide a form for youth to fill out, present to the supervisor at the activity, and return to their organization. All paper work should be filled out on the day of service, as we have no records to consult of service hours performed through church.

Other Parish Opportunities

Many other opportunities exist for getting involved in the parish, like

  • liturgical ministries of Mass as an usher, lector, communion minister, altar server, or planner of liturgy.
  • faith formation opportunities like Word Break at St Marys, book clubs, Faith and Film at St Vincent
  • Social ministry and service of each parish

For these and more opportunities, look for more information in the bulletin or contact the leaders of each ministry directly.
